Joining a global movement of businesses using travel as a force for good, Journey marks a milestone in sustainable luxury tourism, raising over USD 100,000 for community projects and earning Virtuoso’s Sustainability: Celebrating Culture Award.
Mexico City | Rio de Janeiro | Tamarindo | October 10, 2025:
Journey, the award-winning luxury travel company operating in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Brazil, is proud to announce that it is now fully certified as a Certified B Corporation
across all three countries of operation. Following Journey Mexico’s certification in 2024, both Journey Costa Rica and Journey Brazil achieved certification in 2025, making Journey one of the few luxury travel companies worldwide to hold this distinction across its entire footprint.
Certified B Corporations
are verified by the nonprofit B Lab
to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency demonstrating that business success can benefit all stakeholders, not just shareholders.
“Our certified B Corporation Status affirms that luxury travel can and must be a force for good,” said Zach Rabinor, CEO, Founder, and President of Journey.
Certification Across Three Countries
- Journey Mexico became certified in 2024, building on over two decades of expertise in tailor-made travel and a long-standing commitment to sustainability.
- Journey Costa Rica achieved certification in 2025, reflecting its rapid adoption of responsible practices and strong community partnerships since launching in 2023.
- Journey Brazil became certified in 2025 after just one year of operation, underscoring how sustainability was embedded from the outset in one of the world’s most biodiverse regions.
“With Costa Rica now certified, we can demonstrate to our guests that protecting the natural beauty they come to see is inseparable from the experience itself,” said Javier Echecopar, Managing Director of Journey Costa Rica.
“Mexico’s early certification gave us a blueprint for meaningful action,” added Matteo Luthi, Managing Director of Journey Mexico.
“Brazil’s immense richness comes with responsibility,” said Mikael Castro, Managing Director of Journey Brazil.
Positive Impact in Action
Journey’s collective Positive Impact Fund has raised over USD 100,000 to date to support pioneering nonprofit projects. Guests are invited to contribute as part of their trip, with 100% of funds directed to carefully selected partners.
Current Positive Impact Partners include:
- Haciendas del Mundo Maya Foundation (Yucatán, Mexico): keeping Maya heritage alive through community action.
- Arca Tierra & Xochimilco Agroecological Initiative (Mexico City, Mexico): reviving ancient regenerative farming in UNESCO-listed Xochimilco.
- Bosque Vivo Foundation (Heredia, Costa Rica): a family-led initiative reforesting and rehabilitating Costa Rica´s high-altitude forests.
Journey Brazil will announce its first Positive Impact Partner in 2026.
Journey’s work has also earned global recognition. In 2025, Journey Mexico won Virtuoso’s Celebrating Culture Award. Earlier that year, the company adopted a traditional chinampa in Xochimilco – pre-Hispanic gardens designed for regenerative crop cultivation. Watch the award-winning video here.
Inside Journey: Sustainability Culture
Journey Mexico has a dedicated sustainability committee, composed of team members from across departments, which continues to meet weekly to guide policy, track impact, and promote awareness. Among its initiatives is the Green Champions Race, a quarterly incentivized competition encouraging staff to adopt sustainable practices at home.
Similar staff engagement initiatives are active across Journey Costa Rica and Journey Brazil, where teams participate in workshops, volunteering events, and awareness campaigns that embed sustainability into everyday operations and decision-making. Across Mexico, Costa Rica, and Brazil, Journey staff also volunteer regularly. Past initiatives have included supporting dog shelters, carrying out river, beach and mangrove clean-ups, and celebrating festive holidays with residents at senior’s homes.
